Harlene Husmann Obituary
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa, with family present at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery in Morley.
Harlene was born March 15, 1936, near Morley, Iowa, to Harlan and Virginia Tallman. She married John Husmann Jr. on October 10, 1954, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and was blessed with two children, John and Janet.
A talented and hardworking woman, Harlene owned and operated her upholstery shop for 40 years and taught at Kirkwood College for 20 years. She also held various part-time jobs, always bringing care and dedication to her work.
Harlene treasured the simple things-tending her flower beds, cooking/baking, a good game of cards, and sharing her treats with family and friends. Harlene never met a stranger and found joy in helping others. She had a playful sense of humor, and wasn't afraid to laugh at herself. A devoted Christian, her faith guided her throughout her life.
She is remembered by her son, John Husmann III of Erie, Colorado; her daughter, Janet (Pete) Reinert of Storm Lake; grandchildren Stephanie (Tyson) Cox, Justin (Shauna) Dunagan, Jason (Jessie) Dunagan, Hillary (Toua) Hang, and Tyler Reinert; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Judy (Tom) Hart and Ron (Pat) Tallman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and many loved ones.
Memorials may be directed to First Congregational United Church of Christ of Anamosa OR Morley's Center Cemetery, c/o Carolyn Walker, Treasurer, 1601 Becca Ridge Dr. Apt 4, Anamosa, Iowa (Attn: Harlene Husmann Memorial Fund).
