Harold (Junior) Becker, age 83, died Sunday, April 21, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born May 14, 1940 to Harold & Mary (Kelly) Becker. After graduating from Saint Bede, he joined his father as a life long farmer in Maytown. Other occupations included working for G & L Electric, Eisenberg Tiling & Lilja Excavating. After retiring, he enjoyed bartending at Mort's Tap & was a self-taught electrician who loved putzing around on washers, dryers & odds and ends. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy as well as the Knights of Columbus. His loves included watching his grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, checkers and doing word finds. He truly took joy in making everyone around him laugh. He could play the accordion and organ by ear. He loved dancing the polka with his wife. He married Mary Payne in Dixon on October 8, 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister Shirley (Sister Maureen), two brothers-in-law, Bill & Mike Payne, and two nephews, Dave & Doug Payne. He is survived by his children: Maureen, Colleen, Marty, Cindy, & Connie Becker, Karen (Andy) Jones and Sharon (Jeff) Edmunds. Grandchildren: Sean, Natalie and Ashley Becker, Allison, Alexandra & Brady Jones, great grandchildren Hayley and Liam Becker, sister-in-law Wilma Gascoigne, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25th beginning with a 10:00 AM prayer service in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Church in Amboy with Father Gaw officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Maytown. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24th from 3:00 until 7:00 PM with the rosary recited at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice. Condolences can be left at www.thejonesfh.com.
