Clarence James Becker Jr.

Clarence James "Jim" Becker, Jr., 81, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Newmanstown and Palmyra, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Born on October 31, 1944, in Hershey, PA, Jim was the son of the late Clarence James Becker, Sr. and Pauline Gladys (Nissley) Becker.

Jim enjoyed a successful career as a diesel mechanic prior to his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic and exceptional mechanical knowledge. For 18 years, Jim proudly served his community as a firefighter and fire police officer with the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. His extensive understanding of diesel engines proved invaluable, as he generously shared his expertise in fire apparatus maintenance and repair with fellow members.

Jim was the perfect neighbor-always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. In his free time, he was an avid fisherman who cherished time spent on the water.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Spiker. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Darlene J. (Messimer) Becker, and a special niece, Jennifer Goumas.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company at the address listed above.
