Harold Buxman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adamson Life Celebration Home on Jul. 9, 2025.
Harold C. "Bud" Buxman of Greeley, CO, died June 30, 2025, at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO. He was born on December 4, 1925, to Henry and Mary Steinmark Buxman in Grover, CO, the 10th of 11 children. Although he started out small enough to fit in a shoebox, Harold (Bud) grew to be a man respected for his work-ethic, recognized for his community service, and remembered for his generosity and faithful Christian testimony.
Growing up near Hardin, CO, Harold knew hard work from an early age. School days began and ended with farm chores; summers filled with field work and falls with harvesting. But Harold also knew the strength of family and working together.
As a young adult Harold met Doris Kurtz while they were each ice skating at Island Grove Park with friends. He soon fell in love with her, the prettiest girl. They married on Dec. 4, 1946, and lived in Hoyt and Kuner, where Harold worked for his brothers: first for John, and later for Dan. In 1950, with help from his oldest brother, Fred, Harold and Doris began farming on their own east of Eaton. The couple had $200.00 and two cows; later they borrowed enough money to buy two more cows. Harold loved to recount how his little farm proved more profitable than all the other farms owned by Mr. Eaton. Harold admitted he didn't like milking cows, but he did like the steady income it provided. By 1963 that steady income helped Harold and Doris purchase property northwest of Greeley where they raised a daughter and three sons. Over the years, with Harold's hard work and the contributions of family and employees, that farm expanded into Buxman Dairy and Farms, LLC. Harold lived there until 2023 when his health began to decline.
In addition to dairying, farming, and raising a family, Harold faithfully served his community on the Board of Directors for Agland, the New Cache LaPoudre Irrigation Companies, and as president of Highland Valley Ditch Company. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and served as secretary-treasurer of its Board of Deacons for many years. Additionally, Harold generously supported many U.S. and world missionaries, and for 58 years he also contributed to The Gideons' International.
Harold is survived by two sons, Melvin (Marcia) and Donald (Kathi), all of Greeley, and 14 grandchildren. Mel's children: Nathan (Lisa) Buxman, Aimee (Dieter) Haney, Breiana (Jon) Brooks; Ron's children: Brock (Megan) Buxman, Brenna Buxman, Braycen (Chloe) Buxman, and Brex Buxman; Don's children: Justin (Lyndsey) Buxman, Paige Greiner, Jaeda (Shane) Buxman-Curtiss, Mitchell (Caroline) Buxman, Shane (Gabrielle) Buxman, Trent Buxman, and Joey Buxman. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Marion Kercher, and two former daughters-in-law: Trish Buxman Tippetts and Lisa Huddleston Roberts.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Buxman; his daughter, Marilynn Buxman; his son, Ronald Buxman; his parents, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Interment, for all who wish to attend, will be Wednesday, July 16, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 3000 West 16th Street, Greeley, CO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Ave, Greeley, CO 80634.

Buxman Family

I am sorry to know Harold is no longer with us, but I know that he is happy in his eternal home with our heavenly Father! I really enjoyed talking with him when I stopped at the farm. He reminded me of my father, and it felt good to borrow him to discuss life and the world we both found ourselves in. Know that all of you will be in my prayers.

Buxman family, We are heart broken by the news of the loss of your father. Knowing your family for many years and watching the family grow and be successful. Missing your father, grandfather is so difficult for anyone to endure. Our thoughts of your dad, mom, sister and brother brings many wonderful memories to our minds. We know it doesn´t mean too much but none are going until forgotten and I know they will never be forgotten. Many memories come to mind when speaking of your entire family. Our thoughts are with you.

To the Buxman family, you probably don't remember me, my name is Sue Bean. I worked at First National Bank @ the mall with Max Ellis. Max took care of your family's business needs. Mr. Buxman was also so nice to talk to, very respectful, I loved chatting with him if he was waiting for Max. So sorry for your loss, you are in my prayers. God bless your family. Respectfully, Sue Bean
