Myron Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blue Mountain Cremation Services - Longmont on Mar. 20, 2026.
Myron McNierney Smith "Mac" was born on July 10, 1974, at the Naval Hospital at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida. His family moved to Greeley, Colorado, in 1975, where he attended school through high school. He attended the Colorado School of Mines in Golden and graduated on May 3, 1996, with a degree in physics.

His first job was at Seakr in Denver. He later went to work at Seagate in Longmont, where he became deeply involved in computer chip design and later became a senior engineer. In May 2024, he and other former Seagate employees began working at Broadcom, where he continued his work until his untimely death on March 10, 2026. He died in Longmont, Colorado, while working out at a gym. He was 51 years old.

Mac was kind, helpful, thoughtful, gentle, and extremely smart. He could explain complicated things incredibly well. He was extremely well read and an excellent listener, and you would have no doubt that he had heard you. He was extremely well-liked by everyone who knew him.

He enjoyed woodworking and had purchased a great deal of beautiful wood, along with several machines, in anticipation of doing more of it later in life. Numerous family members, relatives, friends, and loved ones were shocked and deeply overwhelmed by his untimely passing.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Lyons Riverbend at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 27. In lieu of flowers, please honor Myron in one of two ways: make a donation to your favorite charity, or make two new friends.

In his memory, we also invite you to wear your favorite color. If your favorite color is black, please choose your second favorite instead. Myron loved color, beauty, and the warmth they brought to life.
