Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snow Funeral Home - Saginaw on Dec. 31, 2024.
Fred B. Buxman Freeland, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Fred Buxman, left us far too soon on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in Freeland, Michigan in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family at the age of 66. The son of the late Frederick and Shirley (Nunamaker) Buxman was born on July 31, 1958, in Saginaw, Michigan. He met the love of his life, Martha "Marty" Edwards at Ss. Peter and Paul High School, their sophomore year. While it took some time for him to convince Marty to give him a chance, their Senior year after some of their friends got to scheming, he asked her out and she said yes. They never looked back. Together they were part of the Ss. Peter and Paul graduating classes of 1976. Fred then went on to attend Saginaw Valley State University and graduated with his bachelor's degree in business administration. Shortly after his graduation they were married on April 24, 1981, and were able to spend 43 wonderful years together full of love and laughter; Marty survives him. His family was everything to him. One of Fred's greatest joys was teaching his kids to play sports, everything from T-ball and bowling to golf. When he wasn't coaching his kids in sports, he loved to watch them play. Besides whatever team his kids were playing for, Fred's favorite sports team was the Detroit Lions, and even though they lost a lot, every Sunday Fred would tune in, praying and hoping that they would take home a Super Bowl title. For the last couple of years Fred proudly held the title of "Euchre King." His family was his pride and joy. They spent time traveling and going on camping trips, and will always remember fondly his creativity, especially when it came to planning parties.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Martha "Marty" Buxman; children, Brett Buxman, Kelly (Scott) Davis, and Morgan (Cesar Haufe) Buxman; grand-fur babies, Mya, Mindy, and Nova; sisters, Sandra Bruske and Connie (Bob) Malcolm; in-laws, Anne Keyser, Michael (Jennifer) Edwards, Richard (Patty) Edwards, Mary (Roger) Hulett, Karen (Tony) Alexander, Charles (Rosemary) Edwards, Janet (James) Keeler, John (Kate) Edwards, Stephen Edwards; special friends, Ruben and Francisco Renteria; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Fred is lovingly reunited with his parents, Frederick and Shirley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Esther Edwards; in-laws, Richard "Dick" Bruske, Butch Keyser, Jeri Edwards, and Gerard Edwards; and nephews, Vinnie Gillespie and Robbie Malcolm.
In accordance with Fred and his family's wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 300 Johnson St., Freeland, Michigan 48623. Rev. Fr. Christian F. Tabares will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Vigil Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Martha and family. I grew up with Fred, and like many we lose touch as the years go by. I have many fond memories of him, his gentle nature and sense of humor where what I remember most. Memories are forever. May family, friends and faith bring you peace, during this time.
