Harold Jay Carpenter, a cherished soul and master craftsman, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 70 in Berea. Born on August 4, 1955, in Rockcastle County, he embraced a life full of passion, dedication, and joy that touched many.
Harold's life was one marked by his love for his family and his craft. As a skilled carpenter, a trade that he not only mastered but also deeply loved, Harold dedicated over two decades of his life to creating and building with his hands. The houses he helped construct were more than just structures; they were homes filled with love, standing as a testament to his labor and care. His craftsmanship, marked by precision and artistry, was highly respected by all who knew him, especially his long-time employer and friend, Tommy Cope, from whom he retired after an accomplished career.
He was a beacon of love and stability for his family, guiding them with a soft-spoken authority and a warm, ever-present smile. Harold is survived by his children: Jackie (Martha) Anderson, Billy (Bobby Sue) Anderson, Melissa (Tommy) Hickle, and Michelle Anderson. His seven grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter to his later years, will miss their beloved grandfather dearly, Harold will also be missed by his siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family would like to deeply thank hospice, all the doctors and nurses who helped take care of Harold. Services will be scheduled at a later date.
