HAROLD CARTER
Lexington, TN: Harold Gene Carter, age 83, passed away November 1, 2025, at AHC Decatur County Nursing Home.
He was born November 5, 1941, in Chester County, TN the son of the late Vallie D. and Era Clementine Cagle Carter. He grew up in Enville and attended Cash School.
He married Virginia Inez Wheatley on May 4, 1957, and they made their home in Enville.
He worked for Decaturville Sportswear as a shipping supervisor for many years until it closed. He was a man of deep faith, and was a Pentecostal Minister for about forty years, serving in Chester and Henderson Counties and did much work in jail Ministry. He also served as an Elder at First Pentecostal Church in Lexington.
He and his wife Inez enjoyed crafting and spending time traveling to Craft Shows and Flea Markets to sell their products.
He enjoyed Baseball and was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan. He was a quite meek and humble man who was a genuine servant.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Virginia Inez Wheatley Carter of Lexington; two daughters, Beverly Diane Baker (John) of Lexington and Dana Ann Pete (Glynn) of Ragley, LA; four grandchildren, Myra Tedford (Wes), Ryan Baker (Marcy), Wesley Pete (Bethanie) and Justin Pete (Michal); eleven great grandchildren, Gavin Baker, Drake Baker, Ansley Davis, Ava Davis, Darby Tedford, Hudson Pete, Henry Pete, Zoie Pete, Peyton Pete, Zahra Pete and Sophia Pete; and one great-great grandchild, Brooks Baker; a brother, Doy Carter (Marilyn) of Morris Chapel, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandchild, Carter Davis.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, Nov. 7th at First Pentecostal Church – Lexington with David Beecham, Danny Beecham and Bobby Beecham officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at First Pentecostal Church 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM service time.
