Harold Clem Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Dec. 22, 2025.
Harold Edwin Clem, affectionately known as Bubby to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 76, in his hometown of Evansville, IN. Born on July 15, 1949, to the late Charles and Nora Katherine Clem, Harold's life was one marked by joy, music, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and community.

Harold's journey through life was shared with his devoted wife of 15 years, Sherry Clem, who stood by him as a partner in both love and adventure. Together, they reveled in the simple pleasures of life, from singing karaoke to playing card games and rolling dice. Harold's passion for the open road was evident in his love for riding his Harley Davidson, never missing an opportunity to support the veterans he held so dear in his heart.

A man of the outdoors, Harold found solace and happiness in nature. His generous spirit was as boundless as the landscapes he loved, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His presence was a source of strength and comfort to his family, including his brother, Bobby Payne and wife Kathy, his children, Michelle Dill-Clem, Brandon Clem, and Christopher Clem, as well as his cherished seven grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his nephew Robert Payne and Nicholas Payne and Tiffany Bybee. Harold's memory will also be treasured by his late brothers, Genie Clem and Smitty Smith, his deceased son, Kip Clem, and his beloved grandchild, Phillip, who all preceded him in passing.

Harold's life was a tapestry of meaningful relationships and shared experiences. He was a beacon of light and laughter in the lives of his family and friends, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the stories told around the tables where he once played, in the wind that whispers through the trees he cherished, and in the hearts of the countless individuals he touched with his kindness and warmth. He was such a funny man and always made everyone laugh from his wit. Everyone would always joke with him that he just wasn't right.

As we bid farewell to Harold Edwin Clem, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with song, camaraderie, and an enduring love for the journey. His spirit will continue to ride on, guiding us with the memories of the joy and love he shared so freely. Harold's life story is not one of sorrow, but a beautiful reminder of the impact one person can have on the world around them. He will be missed, but his song will echo in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be Friday, December 26th from 10am to 11am with service at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home.

I knew Bubby in grade school. I moved back to Evansville a couple of years ago. A childhood friend told me this week that she had read that Harold had passed. I see that a very fun school friend turned out to be a popular, well-loved man, with a fun sense of humor! May his family and many friends be comforted at this time. May memories of Harold live on in your hearts!

My condolences to the Clem Family and all those close to the family. I knew Bubby and Genie back-n-da-day. No matter where, and when, we would reconnect, it was always family hanging out. Harold was one of those folks who had a foreboding appearance (mostly) but, the minute you started talking to him and getting to know him, all those stereotypes were destroyed. Hadn't seen him in a while and I hope his passing was peaceful

What a great guy to call friend! We had a few of the same interests, boating, camping, dancing, and motorcycling. Both belonged to Rawhide & Ruffles dance club. Always a good time when he was around. Been awhile since I had seen him. He will be missed by many. Farewell Bub.

Bubby was drummer and singer in a group called the Invaders back in the 60's. We had the pleasure of playing every Beatles song made in the group. Bub was a blast to be around. We ran into each other many times on the street and enjoyed talking of the old days. He had the best outlook on life. God bless Bub and the family. Sorry for your loss. Ray Spring
