Harold Wayne (Corky) Leake was born February 13, 1944, in Cleveland, OK, the son of Ora Leonard and Vada Marie "Brisbin" Leake, Sr. Corky passed from this life on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his home at the age of 81. He was raised and received his education in Cleveland, where he was active in the FFA and high school band. Following high school, he enlisted in the Army serving honorably and obtaining the rank of Private, before being assigned to the National Guard. During his life, Corky first worked for Cleveland Auto Parts, later working for Save-On, U-Haul, Cleveland Cleaners, Cleveland Public School Bus Driver and Connors DOC before starting Leake Trucking. Corky enjoyed the outdoors, cars and farm equipment. He was an avid fan of country and gospel music. As far as his personality traits, Corky never met a stranger. He was also a lover of pets, especially Baby Girl and Little Bit. On June 8, 2015, Corky was united in marriage to Pat Bartlett in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They were even voted for Cleveland's Cutest Couple.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include his wife, Pat; nieces and nephews - Kathy Sizemore and husband Jerry, Larry Leake and wife Diana, Brenda Koss and husband Jim, Dean Leake and wife Holly and David Leake, family; Francie and Tony Morehead, and Bill and Pam Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Ora Leonard Leake, Jr, William Edward Leake and a nephew Gary Wayne Leake.Funeral services for Corky will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Cleveland First Christian Church with Pastor David Logsdon officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 10th at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home from 11 am till 7 pm. He will be laid to rest in the Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland. Military honors will be awarded by the VFW Fifth Rifle District. Serving as casket bearers will be David Leake, Dean Leake, Larry Leake, Johnny Bennett, Jim Koss and Brandon Sloan. Honorary bearers will be Dale Hymer, Jeremiah Bennett, Bill Bartlett, Tony Morehead and Jerry Sizemore.
