Harold Dousay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jeane's Funeral Service - Leesville on Oct. 1, 2025.
A graveside service for Harold Dean Dousay will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lacamp, Louisiana with Reverend Barry Dousay officiating under the direction of Jeane's Funeral Service. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Bailey, James Bailey, Charles Bailey, Trampus Barton, Richard Maddox, and Bryan Dousay. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jason Williams, Conner Wilt, and Jamie Fredieu. Harold was born March 7, 1943, in Cora, Louisiana and passed away April 29, 2025, in his home in Sieper, Louisiana at the age of 82. Harold worked most of his life cutting and hauling pulp wood. You never saw anyone that worked as hard as he did. To attest to how hard of a worker he was, he still holds the record for shortwood production in 1985 at Boise Cascade with 250 cords a week average for one year. His most loved thing to do was mow and rake leaves and keep his yard very well kept. To his very last days, Harold was never a complainer, even in pain or being tired and uncomfortable. He was always busy, a man in constant motion, but never too busy to share his love or an old story from when he was a boy. Harold always knew that Yvonne would have him a hot, homegrown, homemade meal ready when he came in from the woods, yard, or garden, and he better have cleaned up and taken his shoes off before sitting down to eat. Harold's garden and peas were talked about community wide. The highlights of he and Yvonne's lives were babysitting and watching grands and great-grands. He imparted important gardening lessons to them and sent them home dirty, taking great joy in the fuss it would cause their mommas. He thought the world of his family and loved them unconditionally. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, George Cary Dousay and Beulah Dousay; brothers, Earl Dousay (Wanda), Junior Dousay, Richard Dousay (Joyce), Herbert Dousay (Marie), HC Dousay, JB Dousay (Verna), and Huey Dousay; sisters, Myrtle Dousay and Dorothy Dousay Maddox (Robert); mother-in-law, Onida Chance Arnold; brothers-in-law, Raymond Arnold, Tommy Arnold (Debbie), and Edwin Earl Barton; and sisters-in-law, Mary Williams (Carl) and Rose Hess (Cecil). Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Yvonne Bailey Dousay of Sieper, LA; daughter, Lisa Dousay Perry (Tramp); grandchildren, Courtney Perry Fredieu (Jamie), Dustin Morgan McPhillips (Brittany), Somer Wilt (Johnny), and Jason Williams (Lily); great-grandchildren, Perri MaKenna Fredieu, Demi Claire Fredieu, Beau McPhillips, Julian McPhillips, Conner Wilt, Isabella Williams and Clayton Williams; sister, Patty Ruth Barton; and a host of extended family members and friends.
