Deborah Dousay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home of Willis on Feb. 13, 2026.
Deborah Eliza Nelson Dousay, 74, of Magnolia, Texas, entered her heavenly home to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 12, 2026. Born on January 1, 1952, in Beaumont, Texas, her life was a beautiful testament to strength, perseverance, devotion, joy, and unwavering love. She was known to many as Debby or Deb. By those she cherished the most, she was called "Mammy."

In June of 1969, she met the love of her life, Robert "Robbie" Dousay, in a story that became a family legend - when he was stung by a wasp while working on a water well at her sister's house. They were married on November 27, 1970, welcomed three children, and enjoyed a beautiful and fulfilling life together for 55 years.

Deborah passionately battled cancer for five years in a journey that was not defined by illness, but strength. With a warrior's spirit of courage and resilience and unwavering faith that revealed her trust in God's plan, she never stopped showing up for her family or encouraging others. She was a cherished daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin, niece, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. With a gift of finding joy and meaning in the simple things, a quick wit, and childlike spirit, she was known for her playful disposition. She often expressed this through her collection of crazy socks, hunting for or talking about her Coca-Cola treasures and adventures, or dressing up in her signature red color from Fedora to shoes. She was a tiny woman with a huge personality that was unforgettable.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her three daughters, Brandal (Michael Sr.), Crystal (Brandon), and Brooke (Jonathan); her eleven grandchildren, Mikey, Robert Andrew (Mikayla), Madison (Ty), Missey (Wyatt), Chloe (Cam), Mitchel, MaryAnn, Kyleigh, Braelyn, Emmy, and Reese and Alexis and Alex, whom she loved as much as her own; her six great-grandchildren, Niko, Lucy,Troy, Kajsa, Zander, and Robbie; her mother-in-law, Wanda Hickerson; her nephew, Wayne Nelson: and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Nelson and Adeline Berry Nelson; her sister, Carol Babineaux; and her brother, Emmett Nelson.

Serving as pallbearers are: Michael Morris, Jr., Robert Christmas, Mitchel Morris, Cameron Miller, Wyatt Speight, and Alex Hintz.

Though her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the faith she modeled, and the love she so freely gave. The faith and courage that carried her through life's hardest battles now stands as her testimony here while she rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 12:00-1:00pm at Living Stones Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm, 26605 Peden Rd., Magnolia, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home – Willis, TX.
