Harold Eddy Obituary

Harold Woods Eddy, 96, resident of Pawleys Island, SC, husband of Joyce McBride Eddy, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born June 30, 1929, in Ninety Six, SC to the late Joseph Hunter Eddy, Sr. and Fannie Towles Eddy Templeton. He was a graduate of Ninety Six High School, Class of 1946 and a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Boxer, completing tours of duty in Japan, Hawaii and San Francisco.

Harold was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served as trustee, youth counselor, and supervised many annual beach retreats along with his wife. He was active in the Ninety Six Lions Club, American Legion Post 103 and was a member and former president of the first chapter of Ninety Six Jaycees. Harold retired from Monsanto after 25 years of service.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 70 years are four sons, Nelson (Patricia) Eddy, Hunter (Andria) Eddy, Scott (Leigh) Eddy and Kent (Andrea) Eddy;17 grandchildren, Christopher (Kaelyn) Eddy, Cayla (Alex) Long, Joseph Eddy, Davis Eddy, Sarah Eddy, Lora Gahagan (Chandler) Reeves, Ora Parker Eddy, Anna (Mason) Carmel, Lillian (Grant) Blaylock, Libby Eddy, Caroline Eddy, Maggie Eddy, Mary Russell Eddy, Jacob Eddy, William Lemire, Ben Eddy and Anna Claire Lemire; 7 great-grandchildren; Crossley Long, Ava Eddy, Mary Elizabeth Long, Halsey Eddy, Amelia Long, Bentley Carmel and William Eddy; Sister, Susan Eddy Holley.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Francis Eddy Gaddis, Nell Eddy Lamar and Ralph "Cotton" Eddy; half-siblings Joseph Eddy, Frank Eddy, Davis Eddy, Allen Eddy, Andrew Eddy and Louise Eddy Battle.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ninety Six with Rev. John Williams and Rev. Nelson Stokes officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30 - 6:00 Saturday evening.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Eddy's grandsons, Christopher Hunter Eddy, Joseph Nelson Eddy, Davis Woods Eddy, Jacob Towles Eddy, William Michael Lemire, and Benjamin Jessen Eddy.

Honorary escort will be his nephews.

Private burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 301 N. Cambridge St., Ninety Six, SC 29666.
