Harold Embry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home on Mar. 18, 2025.
Harold David Embry was born on July 3, 1956, in Evanston, IL. He passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, in Montgomery. TX.
Harold graduated from Evanston Township High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Purdue University. After graduating from Purdue, Harold was first employed at General Electric in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the early development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology. He returned to Chicago and earned a Master's Degree in Medical Physics from the Chicago Medical School.
Following his masters degree, Harold completed an internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and was hired at the Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, TX. There, his work involved testing precision in radiation devices. He was also employed by Petroleum Engineering, Inc. in Lafayette, LA. Harold concluded his career in the Houston Independent School District and as a private tutor in secondary mathematics.
Harold's hobbies included working on cars, something he learned from our dad. He loved cars: fast cars, old cars, muscle cars, and cars with big engines. Harold had a soft spot in his heart for dogs, and he loved to ride horses.
Harold enjoyed many strong friendships throughout his life. But the greatest love of Harold's life was his love for God and Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He was a lifelong member of the Wilmette church of Christ in Wilmette, IL. After returning to Texas, Harold continued to attend faithfully on ZOOM. The members at Wilmette were a spiritual anchor for Harold. He engaged in worship, led prayers, and he enjoyed teaching Bible studies when someone was absent.
The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Cynthia Larson and Emma Balaj, of Houston, for their care during the final year of his life.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Embry, and one brother, Robert Stephen Embry. Harold Embry is survived by one brother, Kenneth W. Embry of Northbrook, IL, and one sister, Karen Embry Jenlink (Patrick) of Nacogdoches, TX; two nephews and three nieces: Tom Embry of Mundelein, IL, Kate Malloy (Nicholas) of Arlington Heights, IL, Steve Embry of Rolling Meadows, IL, Amber Hurd (Corey) of St. Mary's GA, and Charla Lewis (Preston) of Benton, AR; two great-nephews, Sam Malloy and Charlie Malloy, and one great-niece, Winter Rose Hurd.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10:30am until time of the service at 11 am at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview. Live Stream Link. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite animal humane society.

With the size and 4 divisions of our schools and our city, their were many many small groups of friendships in basements all acrooss our city and Skokie. I was able to know Harold throughout HS from those times and in Industrial Arts and PE classes.
My thoughts along with the others are with all who loved this funny dependable and creative guy

My condolences to the entire clan! I have many great memories of Harold from back in the day. I know he was a believer and I hope he is where he wanted to be.
