William Harold Hardeman, 83, of
Ashland, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Boyd County Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility.
He was born on March 12, 1942, a son of the late Earl and Lettie Pennington Hardeman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Susan Hardeman; sisters, Mildred Burkholder, Hazel Griffith, and Margaret Alexander; brothers, George Hardeman, Floyd Hardeman, John Hardeman, and Robert "Bob" Hardeman.
Harold was a faithful, active, and longtime member of 62 years at Clyffeside Worship Center in
Ashland, KY, and was a faithful deacon, board member, and teacher.
He was a graduate of Boyd County High School, where he was a star basketball player. Harold served in the United States Army Spec. 5 during the Vietnam Era. He began his work career at Ashland Oil/Marathon Oil, LLC, in November 1962 as a Deck Hand on the boats. Throughout his career at Marathon, he worked at the Marine Terminal as a laborer and Pipefitter, moving to the Refinery as a Laborer, Operations, and pipefitter for the company. He completed his career and retired in the year 2000 from the refinery after completing 37 years, 10 months, and 2 days.
Survivors include the "love of his life" and wife of 62 years, Lucille Ferguson Hardeman; a son, Philip Scott Hardeman; grandson, Shane Hardeman of Asland, KY, and Drew Moore of Grayson, KY; a brother, Earl (Linda) Hardeman of
Ashland, KY; and a sister, Debbie Hall of Flatwoods, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Young officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from Noon until 1:00 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
