Harold Hopkins Obituary

Job 19: 25-27
"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon earth: And though after my skin worms destroy my body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:"
Harold Eugene Hopkins, 86, from Malvern, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Harold was born December 6, 1937, to Houston and Ethel Hopkins. He grew up in Poyen and graduated from Poyen High School.
Harold married Carolyn Wallis Hopkins on August 15, 1958. During their 65-year marriage they lived in many different states traveling for his work and his time in service. He was an ironworker for Union Local 321 and a member since 1956. Harold was also a Pipeliner for Local Union 798. He loved to share stories of working in Alaska laying the Alaskan pipeline with his family. As well as pointing out that he placed the rivets in the I-30 Arkansas river bridge and the bolts in the I-430 bridge whenever we were driving across. Shortly after they were married, Harold and Carolyn moved to Fort Riley, Kansas where he was stationed with the U.S. Army. During his service time he trained with the Honest John Rocket system. Even though Harold traveled for work he also enjoyed traveling for leisure. Harold and Carolyn spent many vacations with their family and friends traveling to Florida and out west to New Mexico, Wyoming and surrounding areas. He loved to travel but was always happy to come back home. He would say there is no place like Arkansas.
Harold's faith was very important to him. He was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Malvern where he worked alongside Carolyn in the children's ministry.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents Houston and Ethel and his sister and her husband Voncille and Roy Woods.
Harold is survived by his wife Carloyn and their two sons. David (Ashley) Hopkins and John (Gina) Hopkins, two grandsons Houston Hopkins and fiancée Emily Conklin and William Hopkins and one sister Brenda (Lee) Cotten. His nieces Kim Dockins, and Kellie (Butch) Jones and nephews Steve Woods and Patrick Cotten.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Jan 13th, from 1-2pm at Regency Funeral Home, with the funeral service starting at 2pm, with Houston Hopkins officiating.  Burial to follow at Shadowlawn Cemmetry.
Honorary Pallbearers are Lee Cotten, Patrick Cotten, Kevin Hopkins, Butch Jones, and Steve Woods.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God in Malvern.
