Harold Osborne "Ozzie" Hostetter, Jr., 66, of Covington, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025 at his residence.
He was born December 10, 1958, in Alleghany County, a son of Harold O. Hostetter, Sr. of Covington and the late Celia Weaver Hostetter.
Ozzie graduated from Alleghany High School in 1977. He retired in 2019 from Smurfit Westrock in Covington after 41 years of employment. He served his community on the Covington City Zoning Board, as an officer in the former Covington High School Quarterback Club, and as a beloved youth league coach for many years in baseball, basketball, and football. He was a member of First Christian Church in Covington.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Wade Hostetter of Covington; three sons, J.P. (Jennifer Pate) Hostetter of Goode, Wesley (Amber) Hostetter of Staunton, and Austin (Kimmi) Hostetter of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Elyssa, Claire, Gage, and Bryce; two sisters, Sandy (Eddie) Persinger and Cindy Hostetter, all of Covington; and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
The family will receive their friends following the service at the funeral home.
Arritt Funeral Home has been entrusted to oversee arrangements.
