Born Nov. 28, 1932, on his family's farm in Gap, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late I. Eby and Ruth (Martin) Hostetter. On May 10, 1958, he married his wife of 67 years, Patricia A. (Deeg) Hostetter, who survives at their home.

He was also a founding member of the Silver Streak Hunting Club and a member of the "Swashbuckler" Bull Syndicate.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, 6712 Ferguson Valley Rd., McVeytown, with Pastors Craig and Kate Gandy officiating.
