Harold Perry Hoyt August 22, 1931 – October 9, 2025
Harold Perry Hoyt, 94, of South Lyon, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 9, 2025.
Harold was born on August 22, 1931, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Ethel Bertha (Johnson) and Harold Arnell Hoyt. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later dedicated his career as a firefighter for the Livonia Fire Department. Beyond his service, Harold was a skilled home builder and enjoyed taking on various side projects throughout his life.
A passionate woodworker, Harold spent countless hours crafting chairs, shelves, cabinets, and a variety of wooden decorations-especially for the holidays. He also found joy in volunteering his time with the Livonia Spree Committee, contributing to the community he loved.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Karen Nikodem (Kirk Ferris); four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Elizabeth Hoyt; and his sons, William Hoyt and Terrance Hoyt.
Harold will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was kind, caring, and an inspiration-his courage, strength, and determination will forever be treasured in the memories of those who shared time with him.
A Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Lyon on Friday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. A committal ceremony and burial will take place the following week at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
Contributions in Harold's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Harold, please visit our floral store.
