It is with heavy hearts but joyful spirits that we celebrate the life of Harold Dean Lunsford, who peacefully departed this world on June 14, 2025, just days before his 91st birthday. Born on June 20, 1934, in Andrews, NC, Harold was a dedicated husband, loving son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and cherished member of his community in Gastonia and Kings Mountain, NC.
Harold was the proud owner of a drywall construction business, showcasing his hard work and commitment to providing for his family. He always had a knack for fixing things around the house.
A man of many passions, Harold loved fishing and often found peace by the water. His deep faith was evident through his involvement with the Crowders Mountain Baptist Church, and in his earlier days at Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher for youth boys and took on the role of deacon. His contributions to his church community left a lasting legacy of kindness and mentorship.
In a delightful twist, one of Harold's hidden talents was roller skating! He had a joyful spirit that reflected his playful side, bringing smiles to those around him.
Harold leaves behind his beloved wife of 71 years, Betty Lunsford; daughter, Veronica Slaton; son, Gregory Lunsford; grandson, Matthew Lunsford (Taylor), great grandchildren, Mason, Cayson, Logan, Lakelyn, and Langston; sisters, Myrtle Jean Johnson (Phillip), Patsy Beam (John), Shelia Heaton (Ron), and Dianne Hogan; brother, Ted Lunsford (Yvonne). They, along with many friends and family members, will carry his memory in their hearts.
Harold was preceded in death by parents, Clifford Lunsford and LeEllen Waldrop; son in law, Gary Slaton; daughter in law, Sandra Lunsford; brother, Donald "Ted" Lunsford; sisters, June Wheeler and Patricia Mason.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Harold at the Crowders Mountain Baptist Church, 125 Mayberry Ln, Kings Mountain, NC, 28086, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.
Join us to celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and the spirit of helping others. Harold will be missed but remembered with joy and fondness by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
