Harold V. "Hal" Lynde, Jr.
Former NH State Rep. and Pelham Selectman;
Harold V. "Hal" Lynde, Jr., 88, of
Pelham, New Hampshire, a well-known Pelham resident, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday February 23, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was the loving husband of Charlene Takesian for 36 years, who survives him.
Born in Boston, MA, July 15, 1936, the son of the late Harold V. Lynde and the late Anna (McMahon) Lynde, he graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and went on to attain his Master's in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern as well.
A veteran of the Korean War, Hal proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army.
Before his retirement in 2001, Hal served as a Project Manager for Raytheon in Bedford, MA, where he worked for over 40 years, focusing on the Sparrow Missile project.
An active member of the Pelham community, he served on the Pelham Board of Selectman for over 30 years and also as New Hampshire State Representative for Pelham. In addition, Hal was a member of several town committees including the Pelham Town Budget Committee, Town Hall Building and Parks and Recreation Committees. He helped start the Pelham Community Coalition to raise awareness of substance abuse.
Hal was most proud of his role, with other town leaders, that led to the construction and completion of the Village Green including the Pelham Municipal Building, the Pelham Public Library and the Pelham Fire Station.
A coach in town for many years, Hal coached soccer for the St. Patrick's 8th grade Girl's soccer team, the Park's and Recreation soccer teams and the Pelham High School Boys' Soccer team.
Among his many interests, he enjoyed camping, canoeing, skiing, traveling, and working on his land with his tractor.
However, Hal's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren and walking with his dog, Leo.
Besides his wife, Hal is survived by a daughter Barbara Comtois of Center Barnstead, NH; two sons Michael Lynde of Raeford, NC and Zachary Lynde of Boston, MA; his stepchildren Roger C. Clermont and his wife Emilie of Hood River, OR, Leighana Kenney and her husband James of
Pelham, NH, and Steven Clermont and Natalie Crisostomo of Hooksett, NH; eleven grandchildren Joshua Lynde, Kelsi Lynde, Jon Luc Comtois, Travis Comtois, Daisy, Brendon, and Fiona Kenney, Magnolia, Lily, Violet Clermont and Charlie Clermont; a brother David Lynde of Okatie, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late William, Barry and Barbara Lynde.
Friends may call on Monday March 3, 2025, at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM from 4 to 7 P.M. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 4, 2025, at THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF PELHAM at 11 o'clock. (Please Meet at Church).
