Harold Raymond May, "Smokey," 98, passed away January 11, 2026, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Born October 31, 1927, in Westmoreland County, PA, son of Edgar and Erma (Stauffer) May. Preceded in death by parents; brothers Edward (Mary), Tom (Arlene), Lee (Zelma); sisters Mildred (Jim) Weakland, Shirley (Fred) Dimpfl,
Betty (Don) Layton, Dorothy (Paul) Blough, Sharon (George) Schech, and Carol (Gary) Sechrengost; survived by brothers Howard (Linda), and Robert (Charlotte) and sister Geraldine (Herb) Wentz; daughter Dr DarLene (Bill Lomerson) Stevens, and Lonnie; life partner Helen Link; grandchildren Chris (Jen Kelley) Zedlar, Dr Stephanie (Donnie Holloway) Zedlar, Garrett (Tracy Goodman) Zedlar, Jennifer Seese Baker, and Brandon Mays; great grandchildren Kisten (Sam) Zedlar and Shelby.
Harold retired as a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel after 35 years; he enjoyed bow and rifle hunting, fishing, gardening/agriculture, horticulture, polkas and wildlife. Special thanks to Dave, Tammy, and Erica from Aesara Care Hospice, who are truly angels on Earth.
