Harold "Pete" McKinniss, age 80 of Riverside, Ohio passed away with his family by his side on December 15, 2024. He was born August 16, 1944 in Jackson, Ohio son of the late Oakley and Marcella (Estler) McKinniss.
Pete was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Pete graduated from Inste Bible College in 2002. He was a Chaplain for Montgomery County Jails for 5 years. Was a Pastor for First Church Of The Open Bible in Lima, Ohio. He was also an associate Pastor for Bible Way Christian Church in Dayton, Ohio. Pete served in many ways at Way of the Cross Church for 40 plus years. Pete started out at Dayton Press and was there for 15 years. The next 32 years, Pete worked for Towne Properties in building maintenance. He enjoyed camping, and spending time with his family. Pete will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his son, David McKinniss; daughter-in-law, Shelly McKinniss; brothers, Ike McKinniss, Wayne McKinniss, and Jerry McKinniss; brothers-in-law, Doug Woodruff, Mickey Stout; and sister-in-law, Sheila Kepler.
Pete is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol McKinniss; children, Harold "Pete" (Crystal) McKinniss Jr. and Tammy McKinniss; grandchildren, Justin (Amber), Petey (Britni), Makayla (Trent), Alex (Halie), Mikayla (Shane), and Lexi (Aaron); great grandchildren, Daisy, Colton, Kylar, Reese, and Emry; siblings, Donna Comley, Debrah (Kenny) Emberson, Bennie (Vicki) McKinniss, and Nyla Palmer; sister-in-law, Sharon Woodruff and Joyce Stout; numerous nieces and nephews; special family friend, Joey Holloway; as well as several other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 2-4pm at Way Of The Cross Church, 612 Beatrice Drive, Riverside, Ohio 45404. A funeral service will follow beginning at 4pm also at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made in Pete's honor to the Way Of The Cross Church.
