Harold Polus, age 90, of Roswell, GA passed away on September 26, 2025. Harry grew up in Brooklyn, New York and was a lifetime fan of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers having delivered newspapers to many of the members of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team including Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella. He attended New York State Maritime Academy (Now SUNY Maritime), where he received a Bachelor of Science, Engineering and Central Michigan University, where he received a Master's of Business Administration. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 until 1959, where he served as Lieutenant JG on the USS Kearsarge in the Pacific Fleet. He loved to travel and go to the beach, making the trek to Nags Head, NC each summer for over 40 years. He loved gardening, making homemade ice cream and apple sauce, bagels and lox, cheeseburgers, shakes and a good Bloody Mary. He also loved playing board games and was especially competitive in Sequence and Ping Pong. Harry met his lifelong love, Beverly Joan, in Long Beach, CA and being the decisive man that he was, he asked Joan to marry him 3 weeks after they first met! Harry retired from Ford Motor Company in 1997 having worked there for 33 years. Harry attended North Point Community Church and was part of The Gideons International for over 30 years, handing out bibles on college campuses and local fairs. His favorite hymn was "All Hail the Power of Jesus' name" even though he could never get the lyrics quite right. Harry is survived by Joan Polus his loving wife of 66 years; his daughter, Laureen Arquitt (James Arquitt) of Wilkesboro, NC; his son, David Polus (Amy Polus) of West Hills, CA; his son, Paul Polus (Tina Polus) of Roswell, GA; 14 grandchildren - all of whom adored their grandpa and loved to get him to say, "licorice," which he couldn't pronounce; and 12 great grandchildren; All of whom take great comfort knowing that Harry is resting peacefully with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Harry's family will receive friends on Monday, November 3rd from 10:30-11:30am at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. Dear Joan and Polus Family,
With my caring thoughts and sympathy in the loss of your dearest Harry. My husband, Joe Bova (Dec.2018) and Harry worked together at Ford for many years as colleagues and dear friends. I have fond memories of our many Ford Christmas parties with you, Joe Dec.(2024) and Shirley Steiner, etc. Special times with wonderful people. May the love of God and comfort of your dear family and friend comfort you at this sorrowful time. I will be live-streaming Harry´s funeral. My heart is with you.
Love & Prayers,
Freda Bova
