Harold L. Ryckaert

MILAN-Harold L. Ryckaert, 84, of Milan, passed away Monday February 20, 2023 at UPH Trinity, Rock Island.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00pm Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30am Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to Alleman High School or to the Milan Christian Food Pantry.
Harold was born on June 8, 1938 in Rock Island, the son of Cyriel and Alma (Bush) Ryckaert. He graduated from Alleman High School in 1956. He married the former Judy A. Nyquist on January 30, 1960 in Milan.
Mr. Ryckaert was a self-employed contractor, building and remodeling homes for over 47 years in the Quad City area.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan and Carpenters Union Local 166.
Harold was a master carpenter, a skilled mechanic, and innovative cardboard boat builder. He spent hours volunteering with the Alleman Heritage Ball, as a bus mechanic for Jordan Catholic Schools, the Milan Christian Food Pantry and The Old Threshers Reunion. He was involved in 4-H and helped his children and grandchildren with their woodworking and metal projects.
He loved spending time with his family and traveling cross country with Judy in their camper. Harold also enjoyed working on and restoring his 1934 Ford Coupe.
Survivors include his children, Karrie (Richard) Roels, Milan, Wayne (Vicky) Ryckaert, Taylor Ridge, Mark (Tammy) Ryckaert, Aledo, Kay (Art) Meyers, Milan; grandchildren, Adam Roels (Jenn Groendyk), Aaron (Krista) Roels, Kristin (Ben) Patting, Danielle (Mitchell) Emerson, Callie (David) Stegall, Shelby (Justin) Ritz, Bentley Harold Ryckaert, Zachary(Kaylie) Meyers, Mallory Meyers; great grandchildren, Owen, Brilee, Rees, Harper, Calahan and one on the way; brothers, Larry (Suzie Josephson) Ryckaert, and Steve (Adele) Ryckaert; and a sister, Shirley (Mike) Wynes and sister in law, Barb Ryckaert.
Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy; his parents, Cyriel and Alma Ryckaert; brothers, James Ryckaert and Samuel Ryckaert and by special friends Bill and Pat Curry.
