Harold Henry Spuhler departed this world for Heaven on May 26, 2024. He was born May 4, 1935, and attended school at Harmony School, Strathmore Elementary & High School, COS, Cal Poly, Fresno State, San Francisco. Where he earned a lifelong teaching credential.
Harold farmed the family farm in Strathmore, owned and ran a small restaurant in North Fork, was a CO in the men's colony in SLO, worked with handicapped adults in facilities which taught & employed them, moving to Tulare, Stockton. Red Bluff & Fresno following this career, then started his own ceramics business. Harold was hired as the first CO at the Kings County Jail, which before had only used deputies. He was an aide for students at Lemoore Adult School at NAS Lemoore, then was a 5th grade teacher at the After- School Program at Parkview School in Armona, where he retired at age 84.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rose Helen (Harrison) Spuhler & granddaughters Melissa & Brittany Tolentino. His parents Harold Christian Spuhler & Ruth (Bellah) Spuhler and sister Gloria Silas.
He is survived by his children Roxanne Tolentino & Dave, Denise Calhoun & David, Kevin Spuhler & Nicole, niece Kelly Virden & James, nephew Tim Barber & Charina, niece Mary & Allan Estes & nephew Glenn Silas. Grandchildren Julian Burkett, Logan Tolentino, Christy Amos & John, Dave Tolentino, Rachel Quintana & Javier, Evan Calhoun & Rebekah, Allison Dale & Andrew, Elizabeth Calhoun, Abby Spuhler, Zach Spuhler, Jill Spuhler, Ben Spuhler. Great Grandchildren, Gage& Bailey, Gavin, Brendan, Trevor, Emma, Isabella, Edward, Tilian, Rose. Great-great grandchild Reilly.
There will be a Celebration of Life on June 29, 2024 at Church of Christ, 1596 E Grangeville Blvd, Hanford, CA. The Service starts at 10:00 AM, followed by light refreshments in the church's fellowship hall.
