Harold Gene Stanton, age 89, of Buffalo, Missouri entered into rest on Monday, March 31, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri.
Harold was born on March 18, 1936, the sixth child of 11, to the late Ralph and Hazel (Highbarger) Stanton. He grew up on what is now a Century Farm in Buffalo, Missouri. Harold was united in marriage to Phyllis Carver on June 8, 1957, in Valparaiso, Indiana.
To this union, four children were born: Robert, Randall, Michael, and Cynthia. After attending the University of Missouri in Springfield, Harold moved to Hobart, IN where he worked for Superior Construction in Gary, IN most of his life in industrial construction.
Harold coached Little League for his sons' teams, loved camping, hunting and raising cattle. A caring and loving father and grandfather, he will be fondly remembered for his love of ice cream and his infamous tractor rides through the pastures with all the grandkids in the back of a trailer. During the calving season, grandkids were taught how to name, bottle-feed, and give treats to all the cattle. Harold's grandchildren loved to sit next to their Papa in his truck, much to the dismay of his beloved dog who was his shadow and hunting partner. Harold loved spending time playing with family, children and grandchildren and wasn't shy about showing his great horseshoes, pitch and rummy skills.
Harold leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Carver) Stanton.
Harold's children, spouses, and grandchildren.
Robert Stanton. Randall Stanton spouse Carol of Boulder, CO with children Cole, Bridget, Clair, and a great granddaughter. Michael and Debra Stanton of Hobart, IN with children Olen and Jessica (Nick) Riccio. Cynthia and Scott McKnight of Hobart, IN with children Samantha and Aaron.
Harold's remaining siblings are Mary Deck of Springfield, MO; Norma Molinaro of Hobart, IN; Inez Roper of Springfield, MO; Jim (Jimmy) Stanton of Buffalo, MO; Dulcia Gann of Springfield, MO and their families.
