Harold Starbuck Obituary

Harold "Alan" Starbuck, 76, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Born October 24, 1948, in Benton Harbor, MI, the son of Harold W. and Marianne F. "Fritzi" (Rocks) Starbuck. Graduate of Rockford College and Veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard in the 70's for six years. Alan married Diane E. Wolfe on March 14, 2000 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Rockford. He worked as an independent sales rep for the precision tooling industry and other companies for over 40 years. Alan was an avid golfer and enjoyed oil painting. He was passionate about his ancestry, exploring many historical sites, libraries, and cemeteries. His gift for communication served him well in both his career and journey into family genealogy.

Survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Jennifer (Mark) McClung; step-children, Eric (Deborah) Shoemaker and Katherine (Thad) Debelak; grandchildren, Jack, Madilyn, Collin, Quinn, and Colton; and brother, Scott (Kim) Starbuck. Predeceased by his parents; and twin sister, Susan VanDyke. The family would like to thank the medical staff at OSF St. Anthony for the care and close family friends, Rick and JoAnn Hudson.

Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford with Rev. Dr. Mark Hagen. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Rita Conference, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr., Rockford, IL 61109 or Rockford Rescue Mission, 714 W. State St., Rockford, IL 61102.
