Donald L. Wilmer

Donald L. Wilmer, 98, formerly of Rockford, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 in Sanford, Florida. Born June 30, 1927 in Rockford, Ill; the son of Herbert C. and Violet L. (Johnson) Wilmer. He graduated from East High School's class of 1945. Donald was a Navy Veteran. He dedicated 38 years in sales at National Material Corporation. Donald was a long-standing member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and served as the superintendent of the Sunday School from 1957 to 1974. He enjoyed needlepoint, golfing, and gardening.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Wilmer; daughter-in-law, Lorna Rygh Wilmer; his grandchildren, Tara Harris and Jason (Jessica) Wilmer; and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Jeannine M. Wilmer; his sons, Gary and David Wilmer; grandson, Andrew Wilmer; and his siblings, Allen Wilmer, Myrna Peterson, and Linda Sparks.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am Thursday, November 13, 2025 in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave, Rockford, IL 61104 with Pastor Jay Quinn officiating. Visitation will be at 10:30 to 11:15 am Thursday prior to the service in the chapel. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N 1st St, Rockford, IL 61107.
