Harold M. Sturman
Harold Maxon Sturman passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on March 19th, 2026 at the age of 83.
Harold was born in Lusk, WY on January 3rd, 1943. He was born the seventh of eight children. He attended school in Lusk from kindergarten until he graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1961. After graduating high school, he went to work in the oilfield until he traveled to Denver and enlisted in the Army in 1962. After an honorable discharge from the Army in February of 1964, he returned home to Lusk and went back to work in the oilfield. Upon returning home, he married Linda Schwab on April 2nd, 1965. Their first child, Charity, was born in November of 1965. Harold and Linda later welcomed their second child, Ben, in January of 1968. He was the Lander New Years baby that year. Their third child, William, was born in Billings, MT in December of 1972. In the children's younger years, they moved several times between Wyoming and Montana. Eventually, they settled in Laurel, MT where he worked for the railroad for 36 years. He retired from the railroad in 2003, and they retired to Joliet, MT in 2004. They lived in Joliet until moving to Lander, WY in 2023 to be near family. Harold's interests included fishing, hunting, and he was very involved in coaching his kids' sports teams, especially baseball. He and Linda raised registered quarter horses for many years and he enjoyed helping on Linda's family's ranch every summer.
Harold was preceded in death by parents Ben and Margaret Sturman of Lusk, WY, siblings George Sturman, Jim Sturman(Patsy), Gerald Sturman(Janice), John Sturman(Connie), Margie Grisham(Jim), Walter Sturman(Suzanne), Donnie Sturman, and granddaughter Chelsie Raidiger.
He was survived by his wife Linda Sturman, daughter Charity Sturman of Lander, WY, sons Ben Sturman(Rebecca) of Tucson, AZ, William Sturman(Kate) of Stephenville, TX, grandchildren Tiffany Sturman of Lander,WY, Alexis Sturman of Stephenville, TX, Cody Sturman of Tucson, AZ, Melissa Raidiger of Tucson, AZ, great grandchildren Riley Fisk, Caleb Snetcher, Tatum Snetcher, Dani Snetcher, and Easton Sturman all of Lander, WY, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service in Lusk, WY at a later date.
