Harold Kent Sutherland, born on August 15, 1941, in Benton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025 in Murphy, Texas. An illustrious life dedicated to service, Kent leaves behind a legacy of love, mentorship, and faith that will be cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosie Sutherland, their three daughters, Annette, Michelle Sullivan and Felicia Patten, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Asher, Sienna, Sydney, Gabe, Silas, India, and Reilly Grant {Seth Grant}. Kent also leaves behind his brother David Sutherland, sister-in-law Kim Sutherland along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Kent proudly served in the U.S. Navy from July 7, 1960 to July 4, 1964, achieving the rank of RMSN (E3). After his military service, he committed his life to serving others as a minister and pastoral counselor. His passion for teaching led him to develop Standing on Holy Ground Ministries, where he would lead spiritual seminars and wokshops. He also authored the book, "Yes Lord I'm Listening," and enjoyed leading Bible studies, sharing spiritual wisdom and guidance with his community. He found great joy in mentoring others, and his dedication to uplifting those around him was a hallmark of his character. He also a enjoyed a career in Human Resource Management . He created human resource training curriculum for Action Rental.
An avid traveler, Kent enjoyed exploring the world with Rosie creating countless treasured memories. He also loved spending quality time with his family remaining a constant supporter and proud father who took great pride in raising his three amazing children and spending time with his grandchildren. He also had a commitment to fitness, and exercise was a key aspect of his life.
Kent's life was a celebration of faith, family and service. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Friends and family are invited to gather in honor of Kent's extraordinary life at a visitation to be held at New Hope Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 500 E. Hwy 80 Sunnyvale, TX
Kent was preceded in death by: Beloved Son Michael Kent Sutherland, Parents Harold and Hazel Sutherland and Sister/Brother in law Phyllecia and Bob Henson.
