Harold Dean Tolbert, Sr., 91, of St. Albans, WV passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House after a short illness. He was born in Beckley, WV, on December 10, 1933. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lincus Tolbert and Martha Elene (Miller) Tolbert, and his brothers, Claude Allen "Jack" Tolbert (surviving wife Lottie) and Cecil Richard "Buck" Tolbert (surviving wife Reba). He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Uva E. (Nunn) Tolbert, and his sons, Harold Dean Tolbert, Jr. (Sandy) and William "Rick" Tolbert (Jeannette). He also leaves behind his grandsons, Gregory Tolbert, Johnathon Grimm (Natasha), Thomas Tolbert (Angela), and Daniel Tolbert, as well as four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. As a child, Dean traveled extensively with his parents and brothers, attending 26 schools before graduating from Ripley High School in 1952. After high school, he worked as a Gradall operator for 44 years and was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. Upon retiring in 1995, he enjoyed being a driver at Capital City Auto Auction. Dean was a long-time member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for 19 years. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, October 2nd, 1:00pm at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Joel M. Harpold officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory to Hubbard Hospice House 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W.
