Harold Wiley Obituary

Harold Edwin Wiley, 82, of Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

He was born January 9, 1943 in Shelby, Ohio to the late James M and Grace C. (Farrell) Wiley. Harold was a member of the first graduating class of Buckeye Central High School in 1961. On May 3, 1964, he married Ruth Ann Wiley and they shared 53 years of marriage prior to her passing on April 1, 2018.

Harold worked for 42 years at PPG and throughout his years with the company, made some great friends as well as positively impacting many lives along the way. He retired at the age of 62 and enjoyed still gathering for food and fellowship with former co-workers.

Harold and Ruth Ann were married at Calvary UCC and were members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus. While at St. Paul’s, Harold served on Church Council, men’s group and was a longtime usher. More recently, he enjoyed attending Crossroads Mansfield Campus with Jason & Denise and then looked forward to heading back to their home for dinner and “game day”, where much laughter was always shared.

Harold and Ruth Ann enjoyed years of traveling and saw some incredible sights throughout Alaska, Hawaii and the Northeastern US Coast. They took many day trips, traveled to visit family and Harold particularly enjoyed the bi-annual Wiley family reunion held in Plymouth, Indiana. They attended many theatrical performances and loved being present at Margaretta School activities and sporting events for grandsons, Hayden & Nolan.

Throughout Harold’s life he was a great provider and role model for his sons and even served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader for several years. Following Ruth Ann’s passing, he became an active member of the Ontario Lions Club and absolutely loved interacting with both it’s members as well as the community during various fundraisers.

Harold is survived by sons, Bryan (Heather) Wiley of Sandusky and Jason (Denise) Wiley of Crestline; grandchildren, Hayden Wiley and Nolan Wiley, Kristine Jenkins and Zachary Ernest; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wiley and Karen (Dennis) Rismiller as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to loving time spent with family, he also enjoyed his beloved grand pup, Zoey. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Roger Wiley and his sister Gertrude “Trudy” Ruehle.

His family is forever thankful to the staff of both Pathways Hospice of Ontario and Freedom Caregivers for the ongoing love and care shown to Harold. You treated him as one of your own and your actions did not go unnoticed.

Friends may call from 4 – 6pm on Tuesday, December 2 at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. in Bucyrus and from 11 – 11:55am Wednesday December 3 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 130 S. Walnut St, in Bucyrus, where his funeral will be held that day beginning at 12:00 noon with Pastor Mike Greenler officiating. A private burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Tiro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to the Ontario Lions Club, and these gifts will be accepted through the funeral home. Online memories and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on Harold’s guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
