Larry W. Alspach, 81, died peacefully while surrounded by family on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Bucyrus Community Hospital after months of failing health.

He was born in Bucyrus on October 26, 1944 to the late Frank C. and Dorothy E. (Kissling) Alspach. He grew up in Bucyrus Township and graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1962. In 1965, Larry was drafted into the US Army and was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War and awarded a Purple Heart and Air Medal. After his return, Larry began working for Swan Rubber for over 40 years, retiring as the shipping and receiving supervisor.

Mutual friends introduced Larry to the new girls basketball coach at Wynford High School, Dee Stelluti, and they were married on May 16, 1969. They shared a love of family, faith, sports (especially basketball), and one another for 45 years of marriage when Dee preceded him in death January 18, 2015.

Larry will be remembered as a selfless, honorable, kind, and faithful man. No matter how busy he seemed to be, he always had a moment to talk and truly listen. An avid sports fan, Larry followed Ohio State and the Wynford Royals and loved golfing with “the boys.” At home, his yard, landscaping, garden, and apple trees were well cared for. Monday mornings were set aside for breakfast with his closest friends. He was proud to have served his country but wasn’t boisterous about it. He kept in touch with fellow soldiers who made it home, particularly with his friend Snuffy Smith in Tennessee.

Far more important than anything else was Larry’s devotion and love for his faith and family. No event or game was missed, and he saw to it that every grandchild got a turn behind the wheel of his prized Corvette. He was a member and former trustee at Mt. Zion Community Church.

Larry is survived by sons, Michael Alspach and Mark (Misti) Alspach; grandchildren, Kaleb Alspach (Alaina Klabunde), Rylee Alspach (Brayden Miller), Jordyn Alspach, Sydney Alspach (Ty Gault), and Bailey Alspach; great grandson, Declan; and brother, Tom (Pat) Alspach.

Larry’s family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus on Sunday, November 30 from 1-4 pm. His funeral will be on Monday at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Community Church with Pastor Matt Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by the US Army Honor Guard and Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions are encouraged to be given to Mt. Zion Community Church or a veterans charity of the donor’s choice. These gifts can be given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Larry’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
