Harriet Stockbridge Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2025.
Harriet Marie Stockbridge passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 18, 1931, Harriet lived a life marked by wisdom, humor, and creativity. Her life was long and full.

Harriet was a devoted wife to the late Ralph Stockbridge, who served as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army. Her life as a military spouse sent her traveling the world, which she cherished. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting, and spending time with her family. She and Ralph were Seahawk football fans from the inaugural season.

Professionally, Harriet contributed many years of service as a medical transcriptionist at Madigan Army Military Hospital, where she combined her meticulous nature with her supportive role alongside her husband's military career.

Harriet graduated from Metalline Falls High School in a class of 11 students. She later attended Washington State University, which laid the groundwork for her lifelong pursuit of knowledge.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Mortzheim and Karen Brooks; grandchildren, Lynn Schmidt, Morgan Cutler, Tyler, Riley, Kelsey and Matt Brooks. Harriet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Stockbridge.

A celebration of life was held at Mount Rainier, Washington, attended by immediate family members, reflecting her love for nature and the beauty of her favorite places.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Harriet can be made to the Humane Society, honoring her compassionate spirit. Harriet's legacy of warmth, laughter, and resilience will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
