Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dawson Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 14, 2026.
BOARDMAN, OHIO – Harry A. Anderson, 87, of Columbiana, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman with his family and friends by his side.

Harry was born in Raccoon Township, PA on August 6, 1938, a son of the late Joseph and Lena (Hirschinger) Anderson. As a young man of 15 Harry was working at the Hillcrest Farms in Chester, West Virginia when they had a three-day auction that grossed 1 million dollars in cattle and equipment in May of 1954. The excitement of the auction and dealing with his passion for cattle and equipment prompted Harry to say to himself, "This is what I want to do". In 1958 he purchased his first of many farms. He worked at J&L Steel mill from 1958 to 1970. He attended Reppert Auction School in Decatur Indiana in 1960. In 1970 he replaced the steel mill income and went full-time into the auction profession. Harry worked several monthly equipment auctions from 1970 until his retirement and was licensed at one point in fifteen states. He was in the CAI charter class held at Indiana University in Bloomington Indiana from 1976 to 1978. Some of his major accomplishments included winning the Ohio Bid Calling Contest in 1978, being elected to the NAA Board of Directors in 1980, serves as PAA president in 1980 and 1981, helped start the PAA Bid Calling Contest in 1981 and won the 1983 PAA Bid Calling Contest. Harry was inducted into the Pennsylvania Auctioneer Hall of Fame in 2019. Harry served as school board director of South Side School District for 6 years starting in 1980. Over the years he has owned a Tastee Freeze, a convenience store, a restaurant and more equipment, cattle and farms than you can shake a stick at.

Preceding Harry in death were his son Mark Anderson; daughter-in-law Brenda (Price) Anderson; five brothers John Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Jay Anderson, George Anderson and Francis Anderson; four sisters Helen Graboski, Martha Young, Jeannie Groves and Virginia McCoy.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Tharon Anderson; adopted daughters Linda and Mary Anderson; best friend Karen Rapp; cherished friend Elaine Moore; two sisters Violet McGaffic and Leona Little; many friends throughout the country.
