Joyce Chamberlain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dawson Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 17, 2026.
Joyce H. Chamberlain, 88

EAST LIVERPOOL – Joyce H. Chamberlain, of East Liverpool, passed away Monday evening, March 16, 2026, at East Liverpool City Hospital. She was 88 years old.

Born in East Liverpool on May 29, 1937, she was a daughter of the late O. Harold and Helen Kaiser Reed. A lifelong resident of the area, Joyce was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1955.

Joyce dedicated 30 years of service to the East Liverpool City School District. She began her career as a secretary at Westgate and later worked in the principal's office at the high school, where she became a familiar and friendly presence to students, teachers, and staff alike.

On June 26, 1960, she married the love of her life, Donald W. Chamberlain. Their marriage spanned 62 wonderful years and was marked by deep devotion, laughter, and a shared love for people. Together they built a home that was always open and welcoming. Joyce and Don were rarely seen apart, enjoying life side by side-whether playing cards, joining in spirited games of volleyball with family and friends, or simply spending time visiting and laughing with those they loved. They cherished their friendships and took great joy in socializing, not only with their own friends but also with the friends of their children, creating a circle of companionship that spanned generations.

Joyce enjoyed sewing, tending to her flower garden, and watching the hummingbirds that visited her yard. She was a member of the Junior Women's Club, the Rebecca Griscom Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Colloquium Club. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Above all, Joyce treasured her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest happiness came from time spent with those she loved.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald W. Chamberlain; one sister, Jean Robbins; three brothers, Robert H. Reed and David Reed; and her twin brother, James H. Reed. She was also preceded in death by her nephews, John Robbins and Kenny Robbins, and a niece, Karen Robbins Colini.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cyndi Burcham and her fiancé, Brad Buchheit; her son, Steven Chamberlain and his wife, Melinda; and seven grandchildren: Morgan Collins (Marcus), Bailee Baker, Hannah Hesse (Julian), Hailey Faulkner (Randy), Alison Hupp, Megan Buchheit, and Becca Buchheit. She also leaves four great-grandchildren, Ellison Jean, Margo Mae, Kateri, and Holden Patrick, along with many extended family members and friends who will remember her warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit.

Friends may visit Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rev. Claudia Britton will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
