Harry James Budke, 74, of Cornelius, Oregon passed away on September 30th, 2024, with his family by his side.
Harry was born on June 10th, 1950, in Eatonville, WA to Joseph Budke and Catherine (Haskins) Budke. Being the youngest of eight, he was also raised by several of his siblings and lived in many places across the Pacific Northwest. He graduated from Mossyrock Highschool (WA) with the class of 1968. He later attended Western Washington University where he studied Civil Engineering.
Harry served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Semper fidelis.
After working as a project manager for several hospital construction projects in Bend and Eugene, OR Harry moved to Sandpoint, ID. There he met his future wife, Billie June Slick, who he later married in 1981. They had two children and move to their family home near Cornelius, OR in 1984.
As his career progressed Harry became a pioneer in the microchip industry and was instrumental in establishing the construction arm of IDC (CH2M Hill) Portland. He made lifelong friendships and was a mentor in his field. Harry was quick to react and get to the heart of things but always fair, kind and ever faithful.
Family and friendships were always paramount for Harry. He loved being a grandfather. He was an active member in the community and served on the Farmington View Elementary School Board and coached several little league and t-ball teams locally and in Bend, OR. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting, playing cards, sports, travel, literature and gatherings with his friends and family.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers (Bill, Mike, Dennis, and Arthur). He is survived by his loving wife Billie, his son Kurt, daughter Lauren (Budke) and spouse Daniel Halverstadt, granddaughter Elsie (Halverstadt), one brother (Robert Budke), two sisters (Rose Moore and Mary Ellen Widner), many dear nieces and nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, Harry's wishes were to have any donations made to services for Veterans. Future plans for a celebration of life will be shared once finalized. Harry's family would like to thank everyone who has reached out during this difficult time.
