Carol Ann Budke, 78, of Mason City, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A private graveside service will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Carol Budke.
Carol was born in Norman, Oklahoma, on January 28, 1946, to parents Jack and Beverly (Welsh) Proscovec. Carol grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High school. In 1975, Carol met her lifelong partner, Gary Fuller. For over 30 years Carol worked as a Cook and Server within the Mason City School District. For many years Carol and her family would make annual trips to Minnesota and Cananda. Carol loved her family dearly and treated all the children in her life as her own. Carol loved watching Duke Basketball, spending time with family and friends in her backyard and the occasional trip to Diamond Jo Casino. Carol was an avid reader and had a passion for solving puzzles and crosswords.
Carol is survived by her lifelong partner, Gary Fuller; sons, Todd Budke, Mick Budke; sisters, Cheryl “Coc” Hebel, Jackie Starr, Kay “Bopper” Snell and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in- law, Jim Snell and Dave Starr.
