Harry Ernest Cobb, Jr., 89, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on November 11, 1934, in Pendleton County, WV to the late Harry Ernest, Sr. and Martha Jones Hiner Cobb.
Mr. Cobb worked for many years with Echols Brothers Construction before going into business for himself.
He was known for his love of hunting and fishing, as well as his passion for sports, particularly supporting teams like the Redskins, Atlanta Braves, and Orioles. Harry found joy in simple pleasures like taking walks at Gypsy Hill Park, Wal-Mart, and the Staunton Mall. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Harry was a devoted member of the Verona Moose Lodge 2172 and attended the Staunton Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mae (Curry) Cobb; his children, Donna King (Charlie), Sandra Roberts (Russell), Dennis Cobb, Rose Shiflett, and Terry Herr; his grandchildren, Christina Roberts, Travis Roberts (Kendra), Carrie Washington (Chris), Drew Cobb (Adrienne), Derick Shiflett and Lindsey Shiflett (Jordan) and Nicole Glenn; a nephew, Eric Cobb; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Cobb.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. Reverend Beth Jarrett will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Cobb, Travis Roberts, Chris Washington, Chason Roberts, Derick Shiflett, Mike McLear, and Tim McLear.
Interment will follow at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton immediately following the service.
