Harry William "Buddy" Cothern, age 74 of Broxton, passed away Saturday July 20th at Coffee Regional Hospital after a short illness. Buddy was a native of Bacon County, retired from the International Painters Union Local 1169, and the son of the late G.W. and Louise Holton Cothern. His brother Gary Dewayne Cothern and sister Lucy Joyce Cothern also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Rhonda Roberts Cothern, daughters Crystal Cothern Harvey (Kenny) of Savannah, Stephanie Jeanette Cothern of Douglas, Heather Cothern Spivey (Justin) of Douglas, Ashley Cribb Andrews (Andy) of Alma, and Amber Boatright Martin (Chris) of Waycross, a special granddaughter Keri Lynn Cothern of Douglas, sisters Jeanette Cothern McLean (Charles) of Pidgeon, Suzy Cothern Bennett of Alma, and Cindy Cothern Carter (Mike) of Wilsonville. Nine grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23rd at 11 AM in the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Copeland and Rev. Wendell Mosley officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM until funeral time. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. Active pallbearers include Wendell Mosley, KoJack Carter, Jack Bennett, Michael Carter, Johnny Horton, and Devon Bullock. Honorary escort includes Ricky Gilliard, Ricky Davis, Tommy & Regina Courson, Ben Lott, Valeri Thomas, Kenny Wade, Buddy Creech, Randy Banks, Dr. Micheal Deen, Markie Hall, and the staff of Twin Oaks Nursing Home.
In lieu of flowers Buddy's request is for donations of $11 be made to the Tunnels To Towers Foundation.
