Harry Charles Cutting, Jr., age 79, of Raleigh, N.C., passed away after a long illness on January 22, 2026 at Duke Raleigh Hospital, North Carolina.
Harry was born on October 22, 1946 in
Concord, New Hampshire to Harry Charles Cutting Sr. and Cecile Julliet Cutting. Harry grew up near the River in
Penacook, NH, graduated from Concord High School in 1965 and almost immediately joined the Air National Guard with classmate Clint Gay who would become his brother-in-law in 1968. After he returned home from the Guard, Harry started an apprenticeship as a brick mason and became a card holding union member. He worked for 10 years at the brick laying trade and then was hired as a Foreman for Merrimack Farmers Exchange. At this time Harry enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University in
Manchester, NH and earned his Associates Degree in General Business Management. Harry was promoted to Manager of Computers and stayed with Merrimack Farmers until 1981 when he was given the opportunity to manage a new building materials company. From there he was hired by the City of Concord as a Community Development Specialist. Harry's final employment was with the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester where he worked for 13 years as a Supervisor of Health Services until his retirement in 1999.
After retiring, Harry moved to the warmer weather and golf course in North Carolina where he designed and built a house at Lake Royale. For his new home, Harry devoted himself to landscaping and interior design, which were always a passion. In between writing poetry, crafting, cooking, and volunteering at his church's food pantry, he would take long walks with his beloved dogs Bruno and later Fred. Harry became enthralled with collecting memorabilia of Betty Boop and Marilyn Monroe. He loved to dance and listen to music. He made special new friends and enjoyed boating and fishing on the community lake with them.
As Harry's health declined, he sold his home and moved to
Raleigh, NC where he stayed until his passing. Life slowed down but he continued to be close with his friends and enjoyed Sunday visits and games of cribbage.
Harry is survived by his three sisters: Ethel C. (Noble) Furlong, NH, Zoe Jilleen (Eva Jane Cutting), VT, Susan C. Gay (Clint Gay) FL; many nieces and nephews; many dear friends including: Terri Guerin, Diana West, Cal Turner, and Lisa Parent-Dubois.
Harry was predeceased by his father, Harry Sr.; his mother, Cecile; his sister, Carol Marie Barton; his brothers in-law: Lloyd Allen Noble, George Furlong, Leo A. Barton, Jr.
