Harry L. Getz, age 90, of Delaware Township NJ, died Monday, August 21, 2023 at his home.
Born November 20, 1932 in Doylestown PA, Harry was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Armitage) Getz. He had resided in Delaware Township for 14 years and had previously lived in Solebury/New Hope PA area before that.
Harry, at one time, owned a lawn care business and most recently had been employed in the Maintenance Department at the New Hope-Solebury High School in New Hope PA.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force of the Korean War, serving from 1951 to 1955. He was also a member of the Edgar H. Densen American Legion Post #79 in New Hope PA.
He was a member of the Sandy Ridge Community Church, where he sang in the church choir, served as Deacon, and would conduct services when the Pastor was unavailable.
A talented musician, Harry had his own band, and with his good singing voice, sang Country music selections while also playing the guitar, often for radio station WDVR of Sergeantsville NJ.
Harry was deceased by a brother, Dennis Getz and his first wife, Mabel Getz. He is survived by his wife, Joan Smith Sabo Getz, a daughter, Charisse Muscatell of Sergeantsville NJ, a son, Brian Getz of Dublin PA, a brother, Ronald Getz of Effort PA, two grandchildren, Stephanie and David, and one great-grandson, Jack, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 11:00 am in Sandy Ridge Community Church, 47 Sandy Ridge Road, Delaware Township NJ. Burial will follow in the Solebury Friends Cemetery, Sugan Road, in Solebury PA. Calling hour will be Thursday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
