Mr. Harry Benjamin “Benny” Hartman, age 67 of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025. He was born August 16, 1958 in Davie County to John Charles Hartman and Betty Jo Riddle Hartman.
Benny was an outdoorsman at heart and appreciated all things in nature. He loved animals, gardening, hunting, his chickens and being surrounded by creation. Benny was a tradesman who could fix or build just about anything, but his specialty was masonry. He built the beautiful home he and Sarah raised their family in. Benny was a faithful husband, father and Papa. His family was his rock and his world, just as he was theirs. To know Benny was to love him. He never met a stranger and was the life of any party. Benny was known for his dancing skills, infectious laugh and bright smile. He had the quiet gift of making everyone feel comfortable and loved. He is preceded in death by his father, John Hartman. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Troutman Hartman of the home; two daughters, Abby Hartman Suarez (Victor) of Charleston, SC and Liz Hartman Harmon (Ben) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Mateo and Micah Suarez, Olive and Eden Harmon; his mother, Betty Jo Hartman and four siblings, Charles, Wanda, Ruth and Peggy. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem by Rev. Paul Wollner. The burial service will be at 3:30pm at the Farmington Community Cemetery with a reception to follow at Farmington Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Farmington Community Cemetery.
