Harry Eugene Hattabaugh, age 99 of Campbellsburg, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, in the Paoli Health & Living Community.
Born March 30, 1924 in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of the late Roy and Lillie (Applegate) Hattabaugh.
He was an automotive technician teacher and maintained the bus fleet for the Salem Community Schools for seventeen (17) years, prior to retirement. He was a former employee of the old Howard Hinkle Oldsmobile dealership in Salem for over two decades and served during WW II in the U. S. Army in the Normandy, France and Germany Campaigns.
He had been a life-long resident of Washington County, was a former deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Salem and attended the Mill Creek Baptist Church.
On May 2, 1948 he married Hope Vivian (Medaris) Hattabaugh, who passed away July 12, 2021. They were married for 73 years.
Survivors include: One (1) Son: Hugh (Kay) Hattabaugh of Apopka, Florida; two (2) Sisters: Katlhleen Sarver and Linda McClellan, both of Salem; Granddaughters: Holly Shever and Heidi Cardenas, both of Florida and Grandson: John J. Hattabaugh of Mitchell and Cousin: Pam (Applegate) Hobson of Salem.
He was preceded in death by three (3) sons: Mark Jerome, James Frederick and John Stephen Hattabaugh, two (2) sisters: Mary Johnson and Coleen Bower and ONE (1) brother, Clayton Hattabaugh.
Services will be held and interment at the Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
