McDermott, Harry J., 84 of St. Petersburg died Friday, January 12, 2007 at Northside Hospital and heart Institute. He moved here in 1963 from his native Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1984 he moved to Boise, Idaho and in January of 2007 moved back to St. Petersburg. He was a Catholic. He retired in 1963 as warehouse manager for Westinghouse in Cincinnati. He was a very active foster grandparent, teaching reading to young children even though he was legally blind. He also loved dogs. He is survived by four sons, Dennis of Middleburg, Florida, Rick of Milford, Ohio, Kevin of Vista, California and Kerry of Spring Harbor, Michigan; three daughters, Cheryl Popp of St. Petersburg, Gail Fiasco, and Kim Gerhardt, both of Cincinnati; a brother, Jim of Cincinnati; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren ATTENTION ALL VISITORS Please take the time to sign into the guest register, simply click on the "Guest Book" tab at the top of this page. The kids all dearly Loved him- For sometimes he was a tease! But in spite of all the pranks he played, Taft students learned their ABC's! When he was in the faculty lounge A special placemat showed his spot! It's "Harry's Place", without a doubt- Just in case you had forgot! We extend our deepest sympathies To Grandpa's friends & family- We are glad we got to know him He was a special V.I.P.! Yes, here's a tribute to Grandpa Harry Who kept us on our toes! And we will miss him greatly, As only Heaven knows!
