Harry J. Righter, age 80, of Broomall, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024.
He was the beloved husband of Maureen I. (nee Hutchison), father of Sandy (Rob) Miller, Mike Righter, Abby (his ever faithful K-9 companion), and grandfather of Cooper Miller. He was brother to William (Nancy) Righter, brother-in-law to Harry Hutchison, uncle of Patti (Ken) Smith, Harry Jr. (Cindy) Hutchison, Jennifer (Phil) Impriano, and Thomas (Lindsay) Houston. He was the loving uncle to numerous great nieces and nephews. Harry was also the adopted brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to all that were blessed to have found themselves within his circle of love. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Catherine as well as his sister Patricia Tregear.
Harry's tenure in the US Army during the Vietnam era stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment. Decorated with the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Sharpshooter/Rifle Badge, his service was marked by dedication and valor. Following an honorable discharge, Harry maintained a steadfast bond with his fellow servicemen as a distinguished member of the American Legion Post 355 in Bala Cynwyd.
To know Harry was to love him. He had a million dollar smile and a distinct and infectious laugh that cheered anyone who heard it. He was an avid surf fisherman and spent many pleasant and peaceful days on the beaches of New Jersey, Delaware, and the Outer Banks. In his later years, Harry became an avid jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and could often be seen sitting in the front window of his home working on them, flashing his fantastic smile, and waving to neighbors as they passed by.
Family and friends may call from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, July 6th, 2024 at 11:00am at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008. A memorial service for Harry will be in the funeral home with his pastor, Rev. Jesse Coale officiating at 11:00am.
