Harry Young Righton, 81, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away peacefully January 19, 2026 at the Springs of Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida with family by his side.

Harry was born June 20, 1944 in Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Savannah High School and received a business degree from the University of Georgia. Harry served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Harry lived and worked in Vero Beach most of his life.

Harry worked as a Vice-President at First National Bank in Vero Beach and made many residential loans. Harry was also a real estate investor for many years. He also bought, restored and sold antique tools and maritime artifacts. Harry was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach. He served as president of the Optimist Club.

Harry was deeply affected by the events of 9/11 and devoted himself to the Lord and to helping the homeless. He was a passionate evangelist and spent hours on street corners holding signs for Jesus. Harry traveled to Haiti several times on mission trips. He enjoyed playing tennis most of his life. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

Harry married Cheryl Evans on August 8, 1970. They enjoyed traveling and spending time in Vero Beach and Sky Valley, Georgia. They were together 48 years before Cheryl passed away November 16, 2018. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Righton and Dorothy Seymour Harwell and Joseph Harwell and sister Jane Righton. He is survived by his daughter Jane Turner, 3 grandchildren, Will Turner, Jacob Turner and Katelyn Turner; his brothers Joseph Harwell and David Harwell and sister Sara Kelly.

A Memorial Service is scheduled Saturday January 24,, 2026 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 2206 16th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960 with a viewing at the church starting at 10 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the The Homeless Ministry at First Baptist Church.
