Michael Steven Brown, 73

Michael Steven Brown passed away on February 13, 2026. He was born on May 12, 1952 in Bloomington, Indiana to Harold "Red" Brown Jr. & Louise Brown. He was a member of Central Assembly of God in Vero Beach. He played high school football and went on to play college football at Indiana University, where he was coached by Lee Corso, who served as the Hoosiers' head coach from 1973 to 1982. Michael worked as a Health and Food Inspector for many years in the Florida Keys. He loved the opportunity to explore the Keys and great food daily. Michael was a new resident of Okeechobee and enjoyed listening to Jimmy Buffet, fishing, snowmobiling, scrap booking, journaling, bird and flower watching, and especially being in or near the beach or pool. Years later he found a love of a good meal with his son at Texas De Brazil and date night with his amazing wife at Carrabba's Italian Grill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Red" Brown Jr. & Louise Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judith A. Brown of Vero Beach, Florida; sons, Michael Steven Brown Jr. (Jordan) and James Carl Rae of Okeechobee, Florida; daughters, Roberta Louise Toothman (Talie) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Gina Ward (Tony) of Okeechobee, Florida and Jodie Herrmann (Chris) of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Jessica Pelaez, Eric Ward, Katie Mattson, Andrea Herrmann, and Nicholas Herrmann; great grandchildren, Anthony Pelaez, Jacob Pelaez, Jersey Ward, Wesley Ward, Mac Ward, Cora Mattson, and Rhett Mattson; and two grand pets, Ryder and CoCo.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Buxton Okeechobee Funeral Home.
