Harry Schill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Options Funeral and Cremation Services, LLC - Fort Myers on Dec. 4, 2025.
The Reverend Dr. Harry J. Schill III, beloved pastor, husband, father, and friend, passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born on August 1, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, Harry devoted his life to faith, learning, service, and community. He graduated from Texas Christian University before earning both a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. He later completed his Doctor of Ministry at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.

Harry faithfully served congregations for decades. He ministered for 13 years at First Presbyterian Church in Oceanside, New York, and later became pastor of Havenwood Presbyterian Church in Timonium, Maryland, where he guided and cared for the community for many years. He also served as chaplain for both the fire and police departments in New York and Maryland. After moving to Fort Myers, Florida, he continued to share his faith and compassion with members of Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral.

Harry was a devoted husband to Janet, his partner of more than 53 years. Having known each other since Janet was 14, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and service. He is survived by his daughter Randi (David) Heinbuch; grandchildren Bryce, Cole, and Trey; his son Michael (Reese) Schill; step-grandchildren Megan and McKenzie; his sister Barbara (Bill) Burns; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol.

Harry enjoyed traveling the world, having visited six continents. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, he loved both the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. He took great joy in collecting baseball memorabilia - especially bobbleheads - and delighted in sharing his collection with anyone who showed interest. He also cherished life's simple pleasures: chimichangas, cannoli, and Dunkin' Donuts.

Memorial service details in Maryland will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Iona-Hope Episcopal Church in Fort Myers, FL (www.ionahope.org), Salem United Methodist Church in Brookeville, MD (www.salemunitedmethodist.org), or First Presbyterian Church of Oceanside, NY (https://www.facebook.com/fpcoceansideny).
